Problem: The gearbox was found to be porous and was leaking oil. This loss of oil was hampering the proper operation of the gearbox. The exact areas which were porous would be difficult to identify. The only sure way of sealing the internals was by coating with an impermeable barrier.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet ENC-1. The gearbox was first grit blasted, then a two coat system of Belzona 5892 was applied to the internal areas.

Belzona Facts

The Belzona solution was a surefire way of fixing the problem. It was also found to be more cost effective, quicker and safer than traditional weld repairs.
