Problem: The annular plate of above-ground storage tanks is crucial for maintaining structural integrity, as it endures the highest mechanical stress. However, tank settlement and harsh environmental exposure can compromise the seal, allowing moisture and air to infiltrate—ultimately causing corrosion in the annular plate

The annular tank base was meticulously prepared, followed by the application of Belzona 3921 and Belzona 3911 primers to the steel and concrete surfaces, respectively.

Bridging tape and the Belzona 9321 reinforcement sheet were subsequently applied to ensure strong adhesion of the topcoat.

Belzona 3111 was applied in a two-coat system, providing durable sealing and long-lasting weatherproof protection.

Application Situation
A Belzona flexible membrane system, reinforced with a specialist sheet, encapsulates the tank base perimeter while its microporous structure allows trapped moisture to escape, preventing corrosion beneath the seal.
Application Method
The application was carried out in line with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet GSS-03. The annular tank base underwent thorough surface preparation, after which Belzona 3921 and 3911 primers were applied to the steel and concrete substrates. Bridging tape and Belzona 9321 reinforcement sheet were then installed to promote optimal adhesion of the top layer. To complete the system, Belzona 3111 was applied in two coats, delivering long-term sealing and weatherproof protection.
