Belzona 1111 and 1341N Repair the Spiders

Problem: Heavy erosion to the spiders that support the shaft on a vertical multi-stage pump.

Grit blasted and ready for rebuilding.

Belzona 1111 applied.

All six spiders completed with two coats of Belzona 1341N.

Application Situation
The customer needed a fast turn-around with these, and using Belzona materials, they were ready for reassembly in two days compared to over a week to have them custom built, or several months to order them and have them shipped.
Application Method
The pieces were grit blasted and solvent washed, then Belzona 1111 applied to all of the eroded areas by hand using a Belzona applicator. Once the Belzona 1111 was cured, the pieces were sanded and shaped by hand, and then coated with two 10 mil coats of Belzona 1341N.
Belzona Facts
The customer considered having new spiders manufactured, but in the time it would take to make one, we were able to rebuild and protect all six pieces. This allowed the pump to return to service in a short amount of time, and also allowed them to do the same application on the other two pumps that were in the same condition. Inspection three years later showed no damage or wear.
