Problem: The water pan on their air handler developed a series of holes with the largest one about 3/4" in size and were losing gallons of water by the minute.

The constant stream of water leaking from the largest hole.

The hole from the top side of the pan.

The large hole covered with Belzona 1212 and some reinforcement metal.

This Belzona 1212 and reinforcement metal is covering about 6" of moderate size pinholes.

Application Situation
With summer temperatures in the upper 90°F's, shutting the unit down in this church would cause many problems as the building houses a daycare center and a homeless program. They needed a repair that could be done without shutting the air handler off.
Application Method
Coarse alumina oxide wet/dry sandpaper was used to prep the surface and remove the corrosion as the application area was under 8" of water. The reinforcement metal was roughened and cleaned, and a liberal amount of Belzona 1212 was applied to both the surface of the pan and the plate. The plate was then pushed firmly into place until excess material had appeared from all sides showing that full contact was achieved.
Belzona Facts
This application used roughly $75 USD of Belzona 1212, and due to the water tolerant abilities, the repair was able to take place without shutting the unit down and emptying the water, and the leak was literally stopped immediately. There was no impact on the occupants of the church during the repair, and now the customer is confident in how simple the application is, that should another hole appear, he will be able to do it himself. Long term, they will be coating the entire pan with Belzona 5811 once fall time arrives to achieve a permanent solution to the corrosion attack this pan is getting.
