Application Situation
The clip joint on this belt was needing to be replaced every couple months to keep the belt operational. This belt moved lumber scraps in a lumber mill to the chipper and could have a wide variety of sizes of scrap wood on it. When this belt would fail, it would make a large mess of scrap wood and back up the production line until it was repaired. Applying Belzona 2111 over the clip joint protected the clips from wear and prevented the constant unscheduled shutdowns.
Application Method
Washed the belt and clip joint with soapy water and allowed it to dry. The surface of the rubber was roughened by hand using a roughing tool. Tape was applied to the outer edges, and over the center of the clip joint to allow it to continue to flex. Belzona 2911 QD Conditioner was applied and allowed to become touch dry following the instructions for use. Belzona 2111 was then applied, first being scrubbed into the roughened surface, then skim coated over the entire application area and smoothed off by hand to prevent any rough edges or corners.

Using Belzona 2111 to cover the clip joint prevented countless unscheduled emergency shutdowns and overall reduced the cost of repetitive repairs. This repair paid for itself within one month of normal use at this lumber mill.
