Problem: Previously Belzona completed corrosion and pitting repairs on some batch mixers for this customer. They fabricated a new mixer, and wanted to prepare for any corrosion and pitting in the future which is intensified by the production of Chloride during the mixing process, by lining the mixer with Belzona products.

Application Situation
New fabricated batch mixer lining for a food production facility by Belzona.
Application Method
The vessel was grit blasted to SA2.5 at 75µ, then lined with the first coat of Belzona 1321 to the required thickness, at the recommended coverage rate of (1.14 m²)/kg in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet VPF-02. Due to the dimensions of the tank, a brush was used for the application. The second coat was then applied, and allowed to cure overnight.

Belzona carried out 2 previous repairs on this customer's batch mixers, completing pitting and corrosion repairs. This then led to the customer requesting Belzona to coat this vessel, as preparation to avoid corrosion problems in the future.
