Problem: Chillers are considered valuable assets which are worth millions of pounds. Often water treatment is not sufficient to prevent corrosion of the body of the chillers. Also, mishandling during shipping can cause defects which then represent starting points for corrosion due to salt entry. Thus, the chillers can become corroded even before being put into service.

The same problem happened to our client. Two new chillers have been shipped to them but arrived severely corroded which delayed the launching of the whole living complex.

Application Situation

The client has chosen Belzona because of its outstanding corrosion-erosion resistance, which has been proven over the years around the world.

Our main selling point was the prolonged longevity Belzona coatings offer to such valuable assets. We also demonstrated that chemical cleaning of corrosion alone is not sufficient to solve such a problem as the corrosion continues to progress even after cleaning. A major benefit we stressed was the fact that the chillers could be put back into service less than 48 hours after the repair.

Tens of similar applications that were executed by our team in various major hotels and facilities around the country were shown to the client, which further built trust in this application.

For this specific application, Belzona 1341 and Belzona 1321 were recommended due to their excellent corrosion-erosion resistance.
