Problem: The screw conveyors transporting solid waste matter separated from water within a Wastewater treatment facility, suffered daily abrasion whilst in operation, causing the screw fins to be damaged. Additionally, the screw trough was badly abraded leading to efficiency losses due to too large a tolerance between the screw trough and screw fins.

Application Method

The screw trough was coated using Belzona 5811, an immersion-grade epoxy barrier coating, prior to being overcoated by black paint for aesthetics. The score was also coated with an epoxy coating Belzona 1341, however, the latter is designed to increase the efficiency and reduce waste material drag. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet SMH-14.
