Problem: Severe pitting corrosion in bottom section of internal closed drain tank, due to coating failiure. Metal loss in areas measured to 6-8mm deep.

Application Situation

Internal repair and coating of offhore FPSO closed drain tank.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5. Following gritblasting, Belzona 1111 Supermetal was used to fill all pitted areas in the tank bottom. All tank bottom surfaces were then coated in Belzona 5811 Immersion Grade.

Belzona Facts

As a result of local pittingcorrosion and possible through wall defects had created a safety and environmental hazard. A cold applied repair solution was required as an alternative to weld repairs. The Products Belzona 1111 SuperMetal and Belzona 5811 Immersion Grade was the customers first choice.
