Problem: The tank was suffering from corrosion problems around the outer lower sections of the tank. In addition to this, there was also corrosion to the base of the smaller inner tank.

Application Situation

Customer had a 25 year old lime holding tank

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona System Leaflet TCC-5. Corrosion along the base was removed via grit blasting then plates where bonded in place to reinforce the steel work. Belzona 5811 was then applied to protect against further corrosion.

Belzona Facts

The plant had a 2 week summer shutdown in which the reapirs needed to be completed. To replace the tanks was expensive and the lead time would exceed this 2 week period. Belzona was more cost-effective and completed within 5 days.
