Problem: The CuNiFe seawater pipelines ranging between DN65 to DN300 on an LNG ship were weakened and leaking due to corrosion. Customer choose to repair the leaks and reinforce thinned pipelines with Belzona SuperWrap II.

Application Situation
Seawater system CuNiFe pipeline of an LNG ship. Customer saved great amount of time and cost by repairing and reinforcing the pipes with Belzona SuperWrap II.
Application Method
Surface preparation was carried out by power tool cleaning SSPC-SP11. The surface was cleaned with Acetone and allowed to dry. Then, Belzona 1212 was applied to the leaking areas. After Belzona 1212 was cured, its surface was sanded down and then the Superwrap II fiber wrapping system was applied onto prepared pipe surfaces. Finally, application sections were consolidated with release film and left to cure.
Belzona Facts
The CuNiFe pipelines on the LNG ship were leaking and weakened. Since the pipe structure was CuNiFe, it was not possible to repair it by welding. The customer had to completely replace the pipelines, which would have been a significant loss of time and money. At this point, Belzona came to the rescue. Belzona repaired and reinforced the CuNiFe pipelines with the Belzona SuperWrap II wrapping system. This process was completed in a very short time compared to replacement. The customer saved significant time and cost plus protected their pipelines against future corrosion.
