Application Situation

Pitting damage and coating deterioration because of rain erosion and UV attack at leading edge area. The Customer usually plans to repair and coat one turbine at the leading edge of a wind turbine per year.

Application Method

1. Sand the surface to be repaired using a coarse sander with 80-grit sandpaper, always using a new piece of sandpaper for each sanding operation.
2. Clean the surface with Belzona 9111 NF Cleaner, then allow it to dry completely.
3. Repair pitting with Belzona 5711.
4. Smooth Belzona 5711 using a coarse sander with 80-grit sandpaper.
5. Mix Belzona 5721 and apply it within 20 minutes using a high-quality brush. Apply at a wet film thickness of 500 microns and then allow it to fully cure for 5 hours at 30°C.
