Application Situation
The patch material was breaking out, leaving a large hole in the floor and making the bathrooms unusable. The facility has six bathrooms per wing, and having two out of commission due to the damaged floor had created ongoing operational issues for several months. Previous patch repairs had repeatedly failed, leading to additional closures, continued deterioration of the area, and inconvenience for both staff and facility users.
Application Method
A hammer and chisel was used to remove the previous patch, and then a wire wheel on a drill was used to remove all loose materials. A concrete diamond grinding wheel was also used.
Belzona Facts
This facility appreciated the all-in-one unit of Belzona 4111. Their main concerns were odor and length of time to cure. They were very happy that odor was not a problem, and being able to return the bathrooms to service the following morning is exactly what they were wanting. Also, having a patch material that would bond so well to the concrete means that the repair will stay in place and will not be able to be chipped up or damaged.

This application took roughly three hours to complete two bathrooms, and was perfomed by in-house maintenance staff with training from the techincal consultant. They have several more bathrooms to repair as well as other damaged concrete around the facility that they will now be able to address as time permits on their own.
