Application Situation

Jet fuel pipelines are a critical component of airport infrastructure and any problems must be addressed as soon as possible. Corrosion and erosion weaken pipelines and increase the risk of leakage. This not only poses a safety hazard to the airport, but can also lead to environmental pollution and significant economic losses.

Application Method

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-2 and two coats of Belzona 5831 was applied. As hot work was prohibited, manual surface preparation was carried out. No damage was caused by this process.

Belzona Facts

Belzona 5831 was chosen because it allowed minimum level of surface preparation, as there were concerns about damaging the pipe during surface preparation. Also because it can coat surfaces contaminated with oil. The asset remained operational during the application. This helped avoid expensive shutdowns and downtime just for repairs.
