Problem: Conventional methods of installation fairleads result in voids between the fairlead and housing. Bi-metalic corrosion may occur between aluminum body and stainless steel equipment used.

Application Situation

Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-08. Application surfaces was prepared to achieve SA2½ cleanliness. Aluminum housing inner surface and stainless steel fairlead exterior surfaces cleaned. The fairlead is aligned to the aluminum housing mechanically. Sealing and assembly was done with Belzona 1111. The void in the fairlead pocket was filled with Belzona 5811 by injection method.
Belzona Facts
Bi-metalic corrosion would occur between two different metals after assembly wih welding. Belzona protects the metals from bi-metalic corrosion isolating two different metal surfaces with its adhesion and filling features. In this way, long lasting and more durable assembly has been achieved compared to traditional methods.
