Fleet Facility Floors are Cleaner and Safer Thanks to Belzona 5231

Problem: This municipality coated their fleet facility floor when it was built 8 years ago. The coating started failing in two years so then they decided to just apply another coating on top of the failing one. That got them to 2023 when they started looking for a real solution. Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate) was specified and the contractor was required to completely remove the old coatings. This project started in the fall of 2024, encompasses 100,000 square feet, and is being done in manageable sections by a trained Belzona application company.

This building is being done in 4 sections. This area has been blast cleaned and is ready for Belzona 5231.

Expansion joints are being rebuilt with foam backer rod, Belzona 4911 and Belzona 4521.

Application Situation

Application Method

The contractor had to remove 2 layers of old floor coating by grit blasting and scraping. Belzona 4911 (TX-Conditioner) was "stippled" into the substrate. Then foam backer rod was inserted to the correct depth. Belzona 4521 was then applied per the IFU. Lastly, two 6-mil coats of Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate) with aggregate were applied by squeegee and roller over the entire section.

These floors were slick and dangerous for the vehicles that use them. This municipality had spent years and too much money trying to find the right solution. Our dedicated team worked with the contractor to solve this customers problem and they are all extremely happy with the outcome.
