Forklift damage from expansion joint solved by Belzona 2211
Industry: Commercial Facilities (COMM)
Application: FPA-Floor Problem Areas (FPA)
Substrate: Concrete
Customer Location: Doncaster
Application Date: March 2025
Products: Belzona 2211 (MP Hi-Build Elastomer)
Problem: Expansion joints were widening beyond control and causing unnecessary damage to the hundreds of forklift truck wheels and damaging suspension in the large distribution centre
Expansion joints had separated over three decades, causing damage to forklifts operating in the area
The area is suitably prepared and Belzona 2211 is then used to fill the area
Application is completed and surface area is reprofiled
Solution is completed, sealing joint and has shown no sign of wear or deterioration protecting forklifts from damage
Application Situation
Traditionally, polysulphide materials are used to infill expansion joints, but also, traditionally, polysulphide just doesn’t last. An application of Belzona 2211 Hi build Elastomer was offered to infill one of the joints as a trial solution.
The joint has now been in place almost half of the year and is showing no sign of wear or deterioration, protecting the stackers and reducing damage to the machinery
Application Method
All the loose and broken material from the joint was removed. Surface preparation was then performed and area conditioned. Belzona 2211(MP Hi-Build Elastomer) was installed in the expansion joint to create a flexible joint.
Belzona Facts
The application has proven the Belzona method and is now being considered for use in over 10km of internal joints
