Application Situation
During routine ship maintenance, both Kort nozzles were found to be severely affected by corrosion and erosion. The client required a fast and reliable solution to repair and protect the internal surfaces using ABS-approved products — all within a tight timeframe.
Application Method
Surface preparation was carried out to SSPC-SP10 (Near-White Metal Blast) standards, achieving a 3-mil (75 µm) surface profile through precision grit blasting. The substrate was then thoroughly cleaned and degreased using residue-free solvents to ensure maximum adhesion.

Once the surface was properly prepared, Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R Metal) was mixed and applied to restore and smooth out the pitted and eroded areas. For long-term erosion and corrosion protection, a two-coat system of Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) was applied — with the second coat applied within the recommended overcoat window to ensure optimal bonding and performance.
