Application Situation

The application of Belzona 5892 on the seawater evaporator provided substantial cost and time efficiencies by eliminating the need for costly replacement or extensive fabrication work.

Application Method

The Belzona 5892 system was applied on the seawater evaporator following a strict procedure: the surface was first prepared by abrasive blasting to achieve Sa 2½ cleanliness and a 75 micron profile using a grit blasting system. After thorough cleaning and inspection, deep pitting was rebuilt with Belzona 1511 (Super HT-Metal) and then Belzona 5892 was applied in two coats to meet the specified thickness. Wet film gauges were used during application, and curing was monitored as per the data sheet, followed by final checks using a holiday detector and dry film thickness gauge.
