Application Situation
The Belzona solution of 4131 and 5231 was chosen for its quick return to service, as well as its ability to create the necessary custom perimeter berms and filets around the entire mechanical room.
Application Method
The floor and walls to receive coating and rebuild screed were prepared via mechanical scarification using Edco grinders with diamond grinding discs and dust containment system. After which, the entire perimeter wall and floor were fileted and sealed, using Belzona 4131. The custom berms were built by hand in front of each set of doors into the mechanical room as well as into any connected rooms. Two coats of Belzona 5231 were then applied to the entire mechanical room in two phases, allowing for a foot traffic cure between phases.
Belzona Facts
The custom berms gave the customer the peace of mind that if the room did flood, it could be contained effectively in the room with floor drains for ample time, allowing response time to the flood to be drastically extended. Belzona KC has an extensive history and great relationship with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
