Problem: Asphalt roof covered with solar reflective paint had deterioated due to coastal winds, sea spray and uv light over a number of years. The roof was now leaking. Customer needed roof to be fully waterproof esapecially as this was to be part of a new bus station.

Application Situation

Old canopy roof which was to form part of a new bus station.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet RPA-6. A simple pull-off test was done to determine which conditioner was best for the weathered solar reflective paint. This proved to be Belzona 3911 (PSC Conditioner). Roof was power washed and Belzona 3911 applied. Two coats of Belzona 3111 were applied with Reinforcing sheet. The result was fully sealed waterproof roof with a seamless finish.

Belzona Facts

Belzona was preferred due to BBA certification, it being low odour and being flexible along with ease of application for customer's own contractor. Support was provided to contractor throughout the application, a requirement of the customer to ensure application was completed within the timescale provided.
