Problem: During routine maintenance some signs of mild impingement erosion and corrosion, leading a small amount of wall loss, was identified.

Multistage boiler feed water pump processes operating at high pressure and flow velocity.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with System Leaflets CEP-05 and CEP-03.

Belzona Facts

The customer requested a coating to reduce overall maintenance requirements and increase time between routine shutdowns. A number of coatings were considered, but Belzona 5821 gave the best balance between cost and performance for the light erosion resistance required. Re-building was required prior to the application of the coating. Instead of conventional weld repair Belzona 1111 was selected due to ease of application (no machining required) and compatibility with the Belzona coating.
