Application Situation
The city had already planned a shutdown to address other equipment in the plant, so they decided to remove the concrete liner in the elbows and change it with a coating that was approved for potable water. The project was divided into 2 phases for a total of 6 elbows.

All the elbows were grit blasted to SSPC SP10. They had pitting and irregular welds which were smoothed and filled with Belzona 1111. Then Belzona 1111 was frost blasted, stripe coated and two coats of Belzona 1341N were applied.

Belzona Facts
We worked closely with the specifier and provided great support. He was very pleased and had no hesitation to recommend Belzona as he knew not only about the quality and proven success of our products, but also the technical support on and off the site. Use of the products in confined space was also lauded compared to competitor’s product used on external of the pipe on same project.
