Application Situation
Stairway in a cement plant is used by majority of employees as well as subcontractors and guests. The surface of the stairs is smooth, which poses a risk of falls and injuries.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8. Surfaces were grinded using angle grinders and thoroughly washed with pressurized water and detergent in order to remove settled impurities. Positions of anti-slip strips were marked using masking tape. Belzona 5231 was applied with short bristled brush with Belzona 9221 (Surefoot Aggregate White) incorporated.
Belzona Facts
Our key customer presented this problem during one of our applications in the factory. The problem of slippery stairs has been tried to be solved before, but no solution has proven to be permanent. A specific challenge is the frequent passage of workers in protective footwear, which often have small stones from production on the bottom, which scratch the surface. Previous solutions have failed to solve this in a quality way. They also requested that the work be carried out outside working hours, when the number of people in the factory is at a minimum. We managed to meet both criteria. After 18 months in service, anti-slip strips are still in perfect condition. Customer was satisfied and we got more similar jobs after this.
