Repair demo to Ferric Chloride Pipe
Industry: Food & Drink (FOOD)
Application: VPF-Valves, Pipes and Fittings (VPF)
Substrate: Stainless-steel
Customer Location: Newark
Application Date: May 2025
Products: Belzona 1212
Problem: A pipe run of some 20m has numerous leaks. The engineers are looking for a solution by repairing the pipe, rather than replacing it. A replacement will be carried out at some point, but the repair is a better option for them at this time

A repair effected by Belzona 1212 and Belzona 9341
Application Situation
The engineers wanted to know that Belzona could offer a cost effective and worthwhile solution to live ferric leaks on Stainless Steel pipes. The engineer trained the engineering staff on site whilst carrying out the repair, enabling the company's own staff to pursue further repairs without facing contractor costs
Application Method
The pipe was wire brushed and prepared using 80 grit emery paper.
The area was cleaned with Belzona 9111 cleaner degreaser
Belzona 1212 was mixed as per the Belzona 1212 IFU and wetted into the Belzona 9431 reinforcing sheet, previously measured out on a "dry wrap"
The loaded reinforcing sheet was wrapped fully, then 50% overlap until complete with a further full revolution
Belzona Facts
The company had found no other way of stemming the leaks until budgets allow a replacement. Now they have seen the Belzona 1212 working, they are very interested in keeping the pipework and using Belzona products to fully wrap the pipe using Belzona SuperWrap II
