Rubber Flange Repair with Belzona 2111

Problem: The customer was in outage and discovered the rubber lining of the condenser head was deteriorated and could not go back in to service.

Before Belzona 2111 repair

Once we removed the old rubber lining from the flange and prepped the surface we used shim stock to create a mold around the flange. Then we poured Belzona 2111 and let sit overnight.

The next day we removed the shim stock to reveal the completion of the Belzona 2111 repair to the flange.

Application Situation

The cost savings was undetermined due to the amount of time the customer did not have to spare. They called the manufacturer and they could not determine a cost but did tell the customer it would be several days before they could have someone come to the facility to look at the flange.

Application Method

We removed the current rubber lining of the flange face us in a chisel hammer followed by grit blasting the surface to SSPC-SP 10 specifications.

Belzona Facts

Estimated cost savings were around five thousand dollars. Only alternative the customer had was to wait a few days for the manufacturer to come on site and evaluate the repair. They chose Belzona for the reliability of the product and knowledge of our company to make this repair.
