Problem: At the pipe/expansion joint, due to expansion and weather conditions, the expansion jointer was torn off locally and a subsequent leak occurred.

Preparation for application of Belzona 9341 product.

The damaged compensator was finally repaired with the product Belzona 7311.

Application Situation

The only alternative to repairing the expansion joints was to replace them, which is very demanding from a technical and time point of view, due to the dismantling of the pipe above the expansion joint, the dismantling of the compensator itself, the welding of a new one and the subsequent assembly of the disassembled pipe. All using cranes.

Application Method

The surface of the pipeline and compensator was cleaned and roughened by blasting (during the shutdown of the degassed pipe). Belzona 2311 was pressed into the leaks, which was then covered with Belzona 7311 with reinforcement sheet.

Using Belzona products to repair compensator damage resulted in a quick and inexpensive solution compared to replacing the damaged parts.
