Problem: The Kirloskar seawater pump was suffering from general corrosion and bi-metallic corrosion (galvanic corrosion) on the wear rings.

Seawater pump at a Sulphur & Phosphate processing plant.

Application Method

The seawater pump was grit-blasted, the cutwaters and wear rings were then rebuilt to their original OEM profile using Belzona 1111 before being overcoated with Belzona 1321. The pump impeller was also rebuilt and protected against corrosion. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet CEP-01 & CEP-02.

Belzona Facts

The seawater pump is still in service to this day and the customer is extremely pleased with the return on investment due to no corrosion maintenance needing to be done since a Belzona system was applied.
