Problem: The aluminum cover plate creates an uncomfortable jolt to patients being transported in beds and wheelchairs, as well as a trip hazard for pedestrians.

Application Situation

The entire remediation was accomplished in one day, with the area returned to full traffic the following morning. The staff were so pleased that their patients would not have to endure this constant irritant anymore, that they immediately started identifying other areas needing the same attention.

Application Method

Diamond grinders and HEPA vacuums were utilized during surface preparation. The Belzona 4131 was hand troweled to ensure the transition was "smooth" and level and top coated with Belzona 4411. The joint was sealed with Bezona 2221.

Belzona Facts

The renovation was accomplished by isolating the affected joint with sheet plastic and rerouting patient and staff traffic around the work area for the afternoon. As the Belzona is low odor, no other disruption was experienced in this busy treatment area of the hospital. Belzona has remediated approximately 20 expansion joints at this hospital alone in the last few years.
