Problem: The abrasive qualities of sand had resulted in wear and holes on the steel chute. The equipment only lasted six months before wearing out, so a more permanent solution was required by the client.

Application Situation
Sand drops into the entrance of the chute causing excessive wear.
Application Method
Belzona 1321 was used as an adhesive for the Belzona 9811 Alumuina tiles. They were then grouted in with Belzona 1812. As not to waste the left of material, Belzona 1812 was then applied over the tiles. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet SHM-7.
Belzona Facts
The service life of this part in normally six months. Fabrication of a new chute cost around £500, plus a day lost for production every 6 months. The cost of the Belzona repair was 25% less and is still showing no signs of deterioration.
