Photograph Descriptions
- Overview of the drill
- Male thread being placed underneath the female piece
- Oversized female thread filled with Belzona 1111
- Belzona 1111 applied on male thread prior to placing both pieces together to complete the application
Application Situation
Threads on drilling machine were worn.
Application Method
The threads were cleaned, using a suitable cleaner/degreaser and a wire brush on the female threads. A release agent was used on a new male thread piece. Belzona 1111 was mixed and applied to both male and female threads. The new piece was screwed into the worn female piece. The excess was wiped off and it was allowed to cure overnight. The new piece was removed in the morning, inspected and then screwed back and sealed. The drill has been constantly used for 2 months now and there are no signs of leakage.
Belzona Facts
Replacing the female drill piece would be very expensive, with thousands of dollars in cost. Additionally, the new piece would have to be ordered, which would take several days to receive, increasing downtime.
