Problem: Multiple issues needed to be addressed in this large project where 2 groups of 5 flats had issues with spalling concrete to stairwells, unsafe , broken and slippery concrete stairs, spalling concrete in the stairwells and leaking bitumen on the balconies above. The stairwell brickwork also required sealing

Application Situation
As Belzona have a wide variety of solutions for Buildings and Structures, the client was please to be able to come to Belzona with a "wishlist" of what they wanted to have done and be supplied by 1 company who manufactures everything from base product. Multiple companies were not needed. Also, The Belzona Senior Sales Engineer had strong relationships with various contractors and he was asked by the client to arrange prices from these experienced contractors, one of which would be instructed to carry out the works
Application Method
All the steps and landings were flaunched to prevent any termination edges with the Belzona coatings.

All the spalling areas were hammer tested, cleaned and repaired using Belzona 4141 and Belzona 4131
Access was enabled to the flats using boards and a system where half the balconies were coated with the Belzona 3131 at a time, including the total blinding of Belzona 9231 Surefoot aggregate
The concrete stairs were prepared and coated with Belzona 5231, prior to the nose edging being coated with Belzona Granogrip in Safety Yellow
Finally all the walls in the stairwells were coated with Belzona 5122 Clear cladding to assure a water tight finish and protect the brickwork

Belzona proved to be a one-stop-shop, including finding a suitable Contractor. The products and services were all sourced by the Senior Sales Engineer who oversaw the project and ensured the Contractor, Main Contractor and Client were supported throughout the 5 week contract
