Application Situation
We were able to reduce down time for this application by a great deal due to using Belzona 1984. Cost savings would have been over one million dollars if the would have waited and had to replace the pipe. .
Application Method
For this application we used an MBX Bristle Blaster and a grinder to prepare the surface. Followed by cleaning with 100% non-recycled MEK. Once the pipe was prepped and cleaned we the pre-fit the Belzona Super Wrap II then cut three wraps. Then we pre-fit the consolidation tape. Followed by mixing Belzona 1984 to Belzona specs. Next we mixed the 1984 into the Super Wrap II and applied to the surface area followed by applying the Super Wrap II to the pipe with three separate wraps to ensure proper thickness. Finally completing the wrap system by applying the red consolidation tape. We used a temperature reader along with surface temperature and humidity readings to ensure proper working environment. This application required a six month inspection by the client. It was recently inspected in October 2025 and was passed by client and contractor.
Belzona Facts
We were able to save our client upwards of one million dollars using this application of Belzona 1984. The other alternative was replacing the pipe which would have had our client down for many days. Our client chose Belzona from past applications and customer testimonials.
