Application Situation
The client appears to have chosen to use the Belzona coating due to its tough specifications and long life in order to reduce the cost of recoating the hydrocyclone vessel. This decision was probably based on the fact that the harsh chemicals and operational conditions of the vessel make normal coatings unsuitable. By using Belzona, the client wants to extend the life of the vessel and avoid frequent recoating.
Application Method
Prior to coating application, the surface of the vessel was blasted to Sa 2.5 Near White Metal and all parameters were tested to ensure that the surface was suitable to be coated. The application of Belzona 1391 to the vessel was carried out manually at an average thickness of 500 microns, following the guidelines described in the Belzona 1391 Instructions for Use.
Belzona Facts
The client's decision to use Belzona product for the hydrocyclone vessel was probably driven by a focus on cost savings: the tough specifications and long service life of Belzona coating reduce the frequency of recoating, ultimately reducing costs associated with maintenance and repair. This approach makes sense given the harsh chemicals and vessel operating conditions for which normal coatings are unsuitable. By extending the life of the vessel through the use of Belzona, the client can achieve long-term cost savings and avoid the need for frequent and costly maintenance.
