Problem: The bonding of the previously installed neoprene rubber sheet failed. Traces of corrosion dripping out in between the rubber sheet and the clamp were observed after a few months of installation.

Application Situation

The newly fabricated caisson clamp needs to be sheathed with a corrugated neoprene rubber, and it must be bonded to the clamp using a tougher bonding material with a required 1.5 mm thick bonding line.

Application Method

The application was done using a stiff bristled brush in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet SHM-12.

Using a dummy pipe with the same diameter as the actual pipe, the corrugated neoprene rubber sheet was bonded in a sandwich between the clamp and the dummy pipe by tightening the bolts.
