Problem: A local shipping company on the Great Lakes was experiencing erosion and corrosion issues on a tail shaft. The company approached Belzona and asked for a solution and cost for a cold apply application.

Application Situation

The tail shaft from a shipping company on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes was in need of a quick turnaround.

Application Method

Preparation was carried out using hand tooling, cleaned using Belzona 9111 as per the Instruction For Use (IFU) the products, Belzona 1111 was used for rebuilding and Belzona 1331 was used for a protective coating for it offers erosion and corrosion resistance and can be applied with a heavy single coat without sagging.

Belzona Facts

The shaft was recovered back to serviable condition within one day to insure the vessel was not delayed for the beginning of the shipping season.
