Problem: The existing coating liner was failing and required replacement.

Previous coating system.

Belzona 9371 fibreglass strips wetted out with Belzona 5815 to bridge joints.

First coat of Belzona 5815 beige.

Second coat of Belzona 5815 grey.

Application Situation

Belzona 5815 was used as it was a simple, flexible, one product solution to protect the cooling tower pan from corrosion and minor chemical attack.

Application Method

Belzona 5815 was used to wet out strips of Belzona 9371 fibreglass reinforcement to seal seams and joints. Belzona 5815 was then used as a two coat system first by applying beige as the first coat, the grey as the top coat. The Belzona 5815 coating was then cured at ambient temperatures for approximately 10 days before the cooling tower was refilled.

Belzona Facts

A flexible coating was required to bend and move with the thin gauge steel, vibration, and to bridge seams in the cooling tower pan.
