Problem: The trolley rail bed flanges have been corroding due to the aggressive environment and ponding rainwater. The inevitable pitting was affecting the functioning of the cranes.

Application Situation

The port maintenance personnel has been using Belzona 1121 for several years wit excellent results. It was chosen for this difficult application due to the extended working life and easy 1:1 mixing ratio, and of course the undeniable trust of the port maintenance crews and decision makers. They considered welding which it would have extremely expensive at 70 feet height.

Application Method

All metal surfaces were grit-blasted to SSPC-SP10 several days prior to the application. During application days, the same metal surfaces were prepared with power tools and cleaned/degreased with a solvent rich cleaner.
