Belzona solves a 20-year gutter issue at Premier League Football ground

Problem: A 100m gutter had had been leaking for almost 20 years, having had many repair attempts over the time, none of which were successful. The leaking gutter would let large amounts of rain water onto the enclosed concourse below, making the surface slippery and dangerous to thousands of people when raining on match days.

Application Situation
Out of season, it was decided to over-clad the existing gutters with pre-fabricated steel gutter lining sheets. These would be bonded onto the existing substrate using Belzona surface tolerant epoxies, prior to overcoating with Belzona flexible membrane.
Application Method
Original substrate cleaned by high pressure water and left to dry.
Pre-fabricated steel sheets were bonded over the original failed substrate using Belzona 1161.
The new steel was pre-conditioned using Belzona 3921.
2 coats of Belzona 3111 were then applied to completely protect the new steel.
Belzona Facts
The water ingress was stopped immediately, much to the relief of the operations manager and ground staff. The concourse remains dry and water free.
