Etxernal corrosion had caused deep pitting in the pipe

Belzona 1111 is applied to prepared surface to bring back to profile

Belzona 1981 SuperWrap II system has six layers applied and consolidated with tape

Finished application, restoring integrity and increasing strength to pipe

Application Situation
Performing the on-site repair ensured no costly downtime and removed the risk of further degradation to the pipe, which would have caused serious issues and prolonged shutdown period.
Application Method
The area was grit blasted to minimum surface profile, cleaned down and made dust free. The defect area was reprofiled using Belzona 1111 and allowed to become stable for an estimated 1 hour. Finally, our Belzona® SWII system was applied over the complete circumference area in 6 layers, before being wrapped with Belzona® 9381, consolidation tape. The following morning the consolidation tape was removed and a full inspection carried out by a Belzona supervisor.
Belzona Facts
Repairing the pipe before further corrosion would have resulted in lengthy and costly shutdowns. Repairing rather than replacing the affected area was a huge cost saving
