Problem: The pump cover had suffered severe erosion damage due to prolonged service conditions. As a result, the client classified the pump as scrap and placed it in the yard, assuming it was beyond economical repair.

Application Situation

The erosion had reduced material thickness, adversely affected hydraulic profiles, and raised concerns regarding reliability and continued operation. The pump cover was repaired and coated at approximately 20% of the cost of a new pump.

Application Method

The pump cover was grit blasted to remove corrosion and achieve the minimum required surface profile. The eroded areas were rebuilt using Belzona 1511 (Super HT-Metal). A two-coat system of Belzona 1391T was then applied to provide long-term protection against erosion and corrosion.
