Problem: A triple High Pressure mechanised wash bay, used for leak testing on newly manufactured cars, had suffered serious internal corrosion through 24/7 operations over 25 years.
Particles of rust and old paint were become entrained in the streams of HP water and were damaging the paintwork of the newly manufactured motor vehicles

Application Situation
During the factory shutdown, the works were planned in and mobilised. A period of 4 weeks was set and and extremely strict H&S rules were to be implemented with spot checks and random inspections.
The Belzona applications team were highly commended for their work ethic, H&S and flexibility, which is still talked about by the Manufacturers staff 5 years on.
Application Method
Due to the location of the works, mechanical preparation could not be employed, making the whole project hand-prep only. This was carried out by up to 10 operatives, using scrapers and wire brushes.
Belzona 5831LT was applied at 2 coats according to IFU specifications.
Belzona were one of 150 companies operating in the factory during the shutdown.
On the following year's awards day, Belzona received the top Safety award for their performance during the works.
