NaOH Vessel lined with Belzona 1391S/T for large Petrochemical site

Problem: Far over it's lining renewal date, the tank had to remain empty. This was preventing chemicals being stored in a way that allowed for other vessels to be emptied for inspection and further renewal works on their linings. The tank had been left with no lining at all and could not be put back into service until a full internal lining had been applied, as well as nozzles leading into the vessel.

Application Situation
The Belzona lining offered quick turnaround and return to service, something the site had needed for the previous couple of years. This had become essential for the site to provide further maintenance checks on it's sister tanks in the vicinity. Given it's area on site a quick preparation and application service was required, given our expected return to service time frame, Belzona was selected as the best option as a trusted product range already used extensively on site.
Application Method
The vessel was heated to maintain constant environmental conditions. The vessel was grit blasted to a profile of >75 micron average at a cleanliness of SA2.5. Spray application was required with stripe coating and hand applied remedial works following full lining. All nozzle and man ways were hand applied.
Belzona Facts
Although alternative products and application services were considered, the Belzona complete solution was chosen due to a long standing trust of the products and application team. The completion of lining has prevented future potential failures on the sites other tanks due to not having excess tank space for emptying other tanks for inspection for maintenance.
