Problem: A newly fabricated scraper trap required a robust protective solution to safeguard against corrosion and erosion, ensuring long-term performance in a harsh operating environment.

Condition of the substrate after grit blasting and before internal coating application.

Application of the first coat of Belzona 1391S.

Application of the second coat to the internal surface of the scraper trap.

Completed application of Belzona 1391S to the internal surfaces of the newly fabricated sour gas scraper trap.

Application Situation

A protective coating was applied to ensure long-term corrosion and erosion resistance for the newly fabricated scraper trap.

Application Method

1. The surface was grit blasted to achieve the required level of cleanliness.

2. The first internal coat of Belzona 1391S (grey) was applied using spin spray technology.

3. As Belzona 1391S is a two-coat system, once the first coat was sufficiently firm, the second coat of Belzona 1391S (blue) was applied to protect the scraper trap substrate against corrosion and erosion.
