Problem: Pump was not drained preparatory to a cold winter freeze-over. The pump casing cracked catastrophically.

Belzona 1212 was applied throughout this repair. Finished job was painted.
Application Situation
This Belzona repair obviated an expensive replacement for this catastrophically cracked pump. The farmer could not afford such an expense. In addition, the time, research and installation cost of replacement would have taken months, whereas the Belzona repair was far cheaper and was completed in two days, allowing the farmer to resume his irrigation in a dry season almost without interruption.
Application Method
The pump casing was hand ground along the crack. Two (2) holes were drilled to stop the crack propagation. The casing was slightly split to allow insertion of Belzona 1212, then clamped shut. The outside crack was filled with Belzona 1212, Six (6) steel tabs were bonded with Belzona 1212 to wrap the crack along its length and add strength to the repair. The pump was painted to complete the repair.
Belzona Facts
Cost of this repair was about 1/10 the cost of replacement. No alternative was practical or considered. Belzona was known by the farmer to be the ultimate solution for a pump with such a catastrophic crack which rendered it completely useless.
