Problem: Regular dripping from the acid mixing tank was causing severe degradation to the concrete at the feet of the tank. The acid mixture had been absorbed into the concrete, threatening to damage the supporting structure.

Application Situation
Repair and protection of a concrete containment area in a brewery.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet FPA-3. The concrete was washed repeatedly with Belzona 9111 (Cleaner Degreaser) to remove acid contamination from the concrete. The concrete surface was rebuilt using Belzona 4131 (Magma-Screed) and protected from further chemical attack with Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1).

The application was completed within 1 day, offering a significant reduction in downtime when compared with laying new concrete. The high chemical resistance of the Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1) top coat offers excellent resistance to the acid mixture, preventing further damage and reducing the future maintenance requirements.
