Problem: A pipework deluge system was required to be installed, however the tanks were full of oil, so making them gas free for hotwork (to weld the brackets) was an expensive option.

Application Method
Application was carried out using a modified version of Belzona System Leaflet VPF-15. The surfaces were prepared by gritblasting using a water/amine fire surpressant and corrosion inhibitor (approved for use). The supports were bonded to the tank sides.
Belzona Facts
Testing of similar brackets showed that 12 tonnes force was required to remove the brackets. This process avoided the costs associated with draining and storing the oil, as well as cleaning the tank to make it gas free for hotwork. After 5 years brackets were replaced and welded when tanks were emptied for a full inspection.
