Fecha de aplicacion: The vessels contained hydrocarbons, salts & wet H2S at high temperature. The previous coating had failed, leaving the vessel exposed to the potential for corrosion.

Situación de la aplicación

Two desalters had come out of service. Osmotic blistering had been noted on the previous coating within the vessel. A long term solution was required to protect the two vessels from corrosion.

Método de aplicación

The vessels were blasted to SA2.5 & minimum 75 microns using garnet. Salt tests were carried out to ensure the levels were within acceptable limits. Any pits found were filled with Belzona 1511. Hard to spray areas were stripe coated with Belzona 1593. Two coats of Belzona 1523 were then applied. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet TCC-5.

The vessel coating was completed within a tight shutdown window. This method of coating rather than replacing the vessels ensured long term protection with minimal disruption to the plant.
