Problem: Severe corrosion of the tank base due to the chemicals, oil and heat involved led to pitting and holing of the tank base resulting in loss of containment.

Application Situation
Slop oil tank used to store wash chemicals used to clean process vessels and other oil production equipment.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflets TCC-5. Areas of severe corrosion and pitting were identified and repaired using welded plates before the base and 450mm up the vertical walls received a two coat system of Belzona® 1391. 
Belzona Facts
The cocktail of hot aggressive chemicals and oil residue was causing aggressive pitting and corrosion of the existing carbon steel plates. Following inspection in 2012, the lining was found to be in excellent condition requiring only minor remedial repairs. The coating had ensured the tank experienced trouble free service for 8 years.
