Problem: Ceramic tiles had fallen out of the vacuum system exposing the Stainless steel substrate. The corn being pulled through system quickly wore a hole through the steel causing loss of vacuum and stoppage of the unloading facility.

Application Situation
Vacuum system is used to unload barges of corn for delivery to the processing facility.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SHM-13. A metal plate was bonded to the exterior with Belzona® 1221 prior to rebuilding the lost tile areas with Belzona® 1812.

With this vacuum system down the corn could not be unloaded from barges and a replacment for this damaged section would have been months away. The Belzona solution offered a quick turn-around allowing barges to once again be unloaded and the plant to continue un-interupted production.
